Austin loves its birds (and Haikubox)!
KXAN in Austin, TX featured Haikubox and the local Wild Birds Unlimited store! The store features a beautiful display showcasing the birds identified by their Haikubox.
The news story mentions Haikubox's recent naming to the TIME Best Inventions of 2024, and the research being done with Haikubox data. This includes a recent review of birds' reactions to the April 2024 total solar eclipse, visible throughout the Austin area.
This station's meteorologist also posts a monthly bird forecast for Central Texas, like this one from November 2024. The station works with Travis Audubon to give residents a heads-up on special birds to watch for in the month ahead. In November, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers are returning from their summer locations and their vocalizations can be identified by Haikuboxes in the area.
