In late August, Axios Tampa Bay reporter Ben Montgomery wrote about Florida snowbirds — migrating warblers which pass through Florida on their way to even more tropical climes. We reached out to see if he would be interested in giving Haikubox a try and soon he was learning more about his backyard’s birds.
Ben just posted an article about his experience and noted “Haikubox is a first-of-its-kind AI enabled device that continuously detects and identifies backyard birds with help from a neural net and thousands of bird recordings at Cornell.” He’s become good buddies with a frequent Tufted Titmouse visitor, but also noted “A barred owl and common nighthawk visited after dark. a downy woodpecker and blue-gray gnatcatcher showed up. Palm warblers and rose-breasted grosbeaks pass through.”
