The Common Loon is so beloved that it is featured on the country’s dollar coin, nicknamed the “loonie.” And the Canada Jay (aka Gray Jay) was named the national bird by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS). Found throughout Canada, the Canada Jay is no snowbird — it sticks around during the long, cold Canadian winter.
