Hummingbirds' Sideways Scooch

Some birds routinely navigate through dense habitat on what might look like an action movie chase. While most zig, zag and fly through small openings by pulling in their wings close to their bodies, hummingbird wings are not flexible enough to allow this. Instead, new research shows that hummingbirds fly sideways while fluttering their wings to make it through small holes. Learn more here.
