The order came quickly and installation was very easy. The operation of the box is great and inline with what you would expect from Merlin. Misidentification of species is dependent on external noise in the garden and placement of the box. It is nice to know I can listen to recordings once I return home and review what was heard and determine the validity of the ID. I would recommend this box to serious birders as well as new birders.

So far it all seems to be working as expected. The app interface takes some experimentation, but seems to have a lot of nice features.

Haiku reported 39 different birds in the first 48 hours - 4 we where not familiar with. Being able to see pictures and hear the recorded bird calls has been great. All four of the new birds appear to be reasonable for our location at this time of year.

Easy to setup. The results are remarkable since you hear far more birds than you see, especially since I am not allowed a traditional feeder. I do get to have a hummingbird feeder since there are no seeds. Still, I am stunned by the number of birds it hears and identifies and hope that others in Rhode Island will join in this collective research project.

Fabulous! A whole new birding experience. Complements the Merlin Sound ID app. Lots of birds to verify by sight, but at least I know what to look for! Love the email alerts too!

Absolutely love it. It's been a great tool for increasing my confidence in birding by ear, and the app is fun and easy to use.

Excellent. Installed the Haikubox and picked up 41 sub-species in the first four hours. Help me to study the timing patterns of different birds.

Our backyard backs to open space, and as a bird nerd, I wanted to know what was going on with the birds, not only at our feeders and water, but also in the open space behind us. While I cannot visually verify all the species Haikubox is identifying (due to distance and coverage), I know they frequent the habitat we have. Many birds do not visit feeders and the Haikubox has vastly expanded our opportunities to learn about birds near us.

The Haiku box I received was well packaged and about the simplest thing I've set up in a while. I literally plugged it in, screwed it to a 4x4 and it was ready for the app. Connecting to the Internet was easy enough and straight-forward. After that, the alerts started showing up and the fun began. I now have alerts for a few favorite birds as well as any new birds that come bay. As with any audio identification apps/devices, it's always best to verify the suggestions the box makes because I have had a few that are off. But that is the great thing about the app and the ecosystem; when I have time I mark those as not found and the program gets better. I also had a question about the mapping location and my privacy and someone from the company responded on a Saturday with a solid solution without asking a thousand other non-important questions, as is often the case with customer service for various hardware I own. That was refreshing.

i LOVE my Haikubox. It gathers a ton of information. It creates graphs of how many times each species is heard calling. It gives me a list of the top 10 birds that it is heard and also shows a list of all the birds that have been shown heard. It shows me the sonogram of the bird called it heard. It has a live view so you can see whats being heard right this moment. My favorite feature is that it will alert me on my apple watch whenever it hears a bird I have specified, like a Hooded Oriole, Elf owl, Common Ground Dove, etc., and I know to go look in my yard. I love getting up each morning and looking at the data from when I was sleeping. I have contacted Technical Support twice and they have been AWESOME with a speedy response and clear communications. It is great to have a company with such great Customer Support. One of the keys things I learned in the Customer Support was that a Good WiFi signal is enough, it doesn't have to be a strong signal so I didn't need to purchase a booster for my Wifi Router.

Since I already had an account, setup was fast and easy. Haikubox identified birds I'd never heard before, but as soon as they were ID'd, I knew what to listen for. Having this tool is an enriching experience, particularly for those of us who bird mostly by ear. Get one!

So far Im very impressed with the app and the website. The system was very easy to set up and theres nothing to do other than monitor the results that pour into the app. I wish there was more information on how to use all the features, but Im sure this is just in its infancy. I look forward to seeing the data.

I love having this device on the "listen out" in my backyard. It's fascinating to know what is hidden in the tree tops or passing over the house, or what that song you've been hearing for the past several days is. If you love birds, you'll love having a Haikubox.

What a cool little box. Every morning the family looks at the app to see what birds stopped by. The hardware is impressive but the app is also very interesting and I've learned so much. I never thought of myself as a bird-person (this was a gift for my wife, which btw big thanks to the team for shipping this out so quickly that it arrived in time for mothers day) but now we've got bird feeders and binoculars. It's not exactly cheep (thats a bird joke), but I think it is fairly priced for what you are getting and the effort that went into development. Hope that this team can grow and develop even more cool stuff like this.

So far, really fun to know what birds are singing in my yard.
